For 13 years the author lived in the remote rain forests of the volcanic Virunga Mountains of Africa with 4 gorilla families. She struggled daily with rain, loneliness and the ever-constant threat of the poachers who wanted to kill her beloved gorillas.

Imagine that England is covered with water and Norwich is an island. Zoe survives there as best she can. Alone and desperate among gangs, she manages to dig a derelict boat out of the mud and gets away to Eels island. But it too is full of danger.
