Coleford Library - Pride Month Celebration - 11:00 - 12:00

27 Jul 2024 - 11:00 AM to 12:00 PMColeford (CO)
Event

In honour of Pride Month, attend one of 6 creative workshops across the county where you’ll work collaboratively with inter-disciplinary artists to produce a piece of artwork (representing one of the colours of the LGBTQ flag) that encapsulates themes of love, queerness, self-expression, identity and experiences of the LGBTQ community.

Dive into a world of colors, textures, and words. This workshop is a safe and welcoming space where every piece of art and every poem is a celebration of being. Express your vibrant identity and connect with others in this unique artistic journey.

Using collage and writing prompts, participants will create a large communal collage that reflects the rich tapestry of LGBTQ+ experiences. Explore the lush greenery of the Forest of Dean by using natural materials like leaves to create beautiful mono-prints on paper and maps. Let the natural world inspire your art as we celebrate QUEER NATURE. Break down queer poems into keywords written on stones, and reassemble them to create new poetic expressions. We'll capture these unique poems through photography and photocopy them to include in the collage.

Gloucestershire Libraries are committed to creating an inclusive community and are working towards a place where everyone feels welcome, safe and valued for who they are. Our events are for everyone: We welcome you whatever your socio-economic background, ability, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, religious beliefs or sexual orientation. If you have any access requirements or if you need further information about the event, please contact libraries.development@gloucestershire.gov.uk ahead of the session.
