Words and pictures

Blake, Quentin2013
Books
Quentin Blake's illustrations have delighted both children and adults for many years. He is recognised by his contemporaries as the master of his art, and his work is to be seen in children's books, on book jackets, magazines, cartoons and advertisements all over the world. Blake works in a variety of different mediums, drawing on the classic traditions of British, European and American illustrations, but brings his own instinct and vision to his work and continues to break boundaries, set new trends and remain a matchless talent in the field of contemporary illustrations. Blake also reveals his talent for writing. He addresses the development of his own life and work, from the earliest influences, working in different mediums, collaborating with some of the most significant children's writers of the 20th century to his own influential work at the Royal College of Art between 1978 and 1986.
