Fairford

June Lewis-Jones200709UU
Book
Containing over 250 images, this book aims to create a visual outline of the town's history. It includes several aspects of the daily life at Fairford to represent the changes in a graphic format. With over 250 evocative images, "Fairford" aims to create a visual outline of the town's history over the last 100 years or so and, equally important, to give a picture of the area as it is today. The market town of Fairford, well known for its RAF base, also boasts the famous St Mary's church with its complete set of medieval stained-glass windows depicting the story of the Bible. The book includes all aspects of daily life to present a graphic representation of the many changes over the last century whilst also illustrating the many aspects that resist time. June Lewis-Jones' research over many decades into the history of her home town led her to visit 'the other Fairford' in Canada, home to the Ojibwa Indians and spectacular glimpses of their parallel lives fill the last chapter. "Fairford" will create a nostalgic journey into the past for those 'Fairfordians' old and new.
