Biography/History:
Samuel Rudder was born in Uley, near Dursley, in 1726 and by 1749 he was established as a printer and bookseller in Cirencester; he also sold patent medicines, groceries and other goods and worked as an auctioneer. He was a respected memeber of the local community and was a trustee of one of the town charities and treasurer of a local prosecution society. He died in Chelsea in 1801.
